Ford Tire Shop & Auto Mechanic Repair

THE TIRE SHOPPE & AUTO MECHANIC REPAIR FERNDALE, MI FORD TIRES MI

The Ford Motor Company has been around for over one-hundred years; producing some of America’s greatest automobiles. Since 1903, The Ford Motor Company has produced and delivered their line of automobiles not only in the United States, but worldwide. To this day, Ford remains one of the top three auto manufacturers and is infamously known for being a part of the “Big Three” which includes Ford, General Motors and Chrysler. With their headquarters right here in the heart of Detroit, the Ford brand is proudly represented in the state of Michigan and has ranked as the second most favored automobile manufacturer for nearly sixty years straight.

At The Tire Shoppe, we are proud to work on Ford automobiles and provide you with the best service throughout Metro-Detroit. Whatever you automobile need may be, we are here to assist you and get you back on the road as safe as possible. At our company, your safety and happiness will always be a top priority. As a tire company that also performs all different types of mechanical work, we work our hardest to ensure that level of quality your are looking for is always matched.

We always take our time to assess what brand, size and type of tire is best suited to match your specific needs. Each vehicle requires a certain size tire and matching air pressure.

Not all tires are the same nor do they properly fit every vehicle out there. The size of the vehicle you have, the manufacturer, the year and style driving that you do are all areas that we look at before getting you into a new set of tires. These factors all contribute to your safety as well as the life of the tires.

Many people wonder why their tires did not last as long as promised. Although it could have been the quality, there are also many other reasons as to why your tires did not last you as long as you had hoped. The name brand of the tires is not something that we get too hung up on; it is the quality behind the name that is being represented. At The Tire Shoppe, we know quality when we see it. When you come into our shop, we will see that you leave here with the exact set of tires that you need to last you as long as possible. We truly understand that selecting new tires can be intimidating as there are so many to choose from; not to mention… expensive.

Michigan also has a lot to do with type of tires you need. We say this because the weather conditions that you live in will certainly effect your tires. If you live in Michigan, you already know how dangerous the roads can be during the harsh wintery months. Having a good set of tires on your vehicle is an absolute necessity, especially during these months. If you are looking for good tires that will assist you year round, a good set of All-Season tires will certainly do the job.

What should I look for in tires?

Firstly, you should look for tires that match your driving needs. Although most tires are designed to meet all types of weather conditions and roads, a tire professional will be able to help you select some tire features that may help to maximize your overall driving experience.

How do I know which brand to go with?

This is something that we will be able to go over with you either on the phone or in person. By discussing what type of driving you do a tire professional here at The Tire Shoppe will be able to explain product features that will match your price point.

What are speed ratings? And why is this important?

A speed rating is the designed speed capability for your vehicle and tires. This essentially lets you know the fastest speed that a tire can handle before it lacks its highest performance capabilities. Although your tire may have a high speed rating, that does not mean that you can safely drive your vehicle at the maximum speed for long periods, especially under poor weather conditions. This is important to know because it contributes to your tires life expectancy. If you are aware of your speed rating and manage your speed according to the tires rating, you will receive a longer life from your tires.

Where can I find my tire speed rating?

The vehicle’s manual is the first place to check. You may also find the speed rating in the driver’s side door, the glove box door as well as your gas tank hatch. Although it may vary per car manufacturer, it is located in either your manual or within your vehicle.

How long should a new set of tires last me?

If you drive somewhere in between the average of 12,000-15,000 miles a year, your tires should last you anywhere from three to four years. The rubber compound will not be worn through at this point, but the treads on the tire will have worn off entirely by this point, meaning that you will have poor traction.

If I have a new set of tires that are over 5 to ten years old are they still good?

-Although your tires may be used very little over time, there is no technical expiration date for any tire. Even if you have a car that is only driven on the weekends or special occasions; the rubber in the tires begin to deteriorate over time which could mean that the tires are no longer safe. Many tire experts feel that any tires over eight years old should be disregarded, regardless of how little they were used.

Can I purchase tires and install them on my own?

-Although it is possible for you to get tires and install them on your own, it is highly recommended that you do not install your tires on your own. Improperly installed tires can cause premature wear as well as a flat or blow out when you least expect it. This is something that we never want you to have to experience. That is why we ask that you come to us before attempting to do it on your own.

How do I know when it is time to replace my old tires?

You may notice that your tires need to be replaced by your driving experience alone. If you noticed that your vehicle control, braking and overall stability is no longer the same; it may be time to check into new tires.

Your vehicle may even alert you letting you know it is time for new tires, depending on the year of your vehicle.

Most automobiles have a built-in tire tread indicator around the area of your tires.

This indicator will let you know when there is approximately 2/32” left on the tread itself.

Another thing to pay attention to is how long you have had your tires, even if they appear to be fine, it is advised that you check them out or stop by to have a tire technician assess the life left on your tires.
